Considering this is my first pregnancy (WITH TWINS!) I had quite a bit to learn about self-care!

It can be extremely overwhelming to find the the best lotion to prevent stretch marks and how to sleep safely yet still comfortably. This is where teaming up with Boppy made my life 100 times easier & enjoyable!

 

Being a trainer and nutritionist, I am very aware (and scared of!) stretch marks. My favorite muscle group to train is abs and I do post quite a bit of fitness photos on my website and social media accounts.

 

There a few guidelines that I have been following consistently everyday to help avoid those dreaded stretch marks!

1.) Watching what I eat.

It’s important to get in all your calories for the day but it’s even more important to do so in a healthy way. A lot of women have the mindset that they are “eating for two” (or in my case “eating for three”) and eat everything and anything they want! This is going to cause your body to gain weight too fast leading increasing your chances of stretch marks!

 

2.) Exercising 20-30 minutes a day.

Exercising improves circulation, which keeps the skin elastic and able to stretch as it grows! The improved circulation also reduces the possibility of varicose veins and swollen ankles, what a nice bonus!

 

3.) Applying my Boppy Bloom- Whipped belly butter every single day… and sometimes twice!

Then there is the struggle to get actual rest while pregnant. A good nights sleep can be hard to come by! For me this was a huge struggle because I am a back sleeper! I was told by my OB that I needed to switch to sleeping on my side. Why? It makes your hearts job easier because it keeps the baby’s weight from applying too much pressure to your inferior vena cava (a large & IMPORTANT vein). This vein carries blood back to the heart from your feet and legs.

Oh man, I can’t tell you how many sleepless nights I had until my Boppy pillow arrived at my door!
