The weekend comes and goes too fast, is this the case for anyone else?! Originally I started writing these weekend recaps because I get asked consistently what is day to day life with twins really like. I remember wondering the exact same thing while I was pregnant and some other random questions such as, how do you manage shopping with two babies and come out of it alive? hahaha but seriously! I have the prime example for a new momma, let’s talk about my Friday!

Friday:

My mom and I headed to Von Maur to look for mother of the groom dresses for my brother, David’s, wedding. It’s about a forty minute drive for us so I made sure I had all the essentials! Bottles, formula, burp rags, change of clothes, wipes, snacks for me stashed in the diaper bag…all that good stuff. I bought two umbrella strollers because the twins have outgrown their car seat stroller. They would not last long in that at all…they want to be sitting upright and able to see around them! I found the strollers at Babys”R” Us for $30 each. I opted for purchasing these two umbrella strollers instead of one double because I don’t want to rush finding the perfect double stroller for going into stores. The BOB is great for walk/runs but definitely not store friendly. It barely fits in an aisle! Ha! When I run errands with both babies I usually have someone with me so this overall seemed like the best option. Not to mention the babies LOVED them!

Once we found several dresses my mom liked we headed to the dressing room. Let’s just say these squirmy babies were ready to move! Luckily, the fitting rooms at Von Maur are fairly nice so I laid down a blanket in one of the rooms and let the babies play. Oliver and Olivia were laughing, playing, and happy as could be. You could tell some ladies, who were coming in to try on clothes, were very confused when they heard all these babies noises from our dressing room. Don’t mind me over here! Just letting my twin babes have a little floor time! #casual

You know, this is one of those situations where you just can’t care what people will think. I’m sure someone would be appalled because I mean…there are two littles babes wiggling around on the floor of the Von Maur fitting room! Not a sight you see every day- but if I didn’t do this, I would never get out! Something I am learning being a mom of twins is that you can always make it work but you also can only care so much what someone else will think. Sometimes, you have to do some funny weird stuff to make certain situations work and THAT IS OKAY! You got this, momma!

Saturday:

Saturday was amazing for several different reasons. I got up and after feeding babies went on my first hike (at my favorite spot) since I was 7 weeks pregnant. It had been FOREVER! It also made me realize just out of hiking shape I really was but oh my gosh it felt amazing. I like getting my butt kicked! Starting my day off on that high note carried on into the rest of my day. This Saturday was also very special because I was going to take my brother’s engagement photos! Now, I have absolutely no experience doing photo shoots…but this was a” fake it until I made it” kind of moment so I went for it. Matthew and I invested in Nikon D3400 around Christmas time and I started to really play around and learn more about it this month. My brother David and his fiance made it easy. When you have two beautiful people and a nice camera, it’s hard to go wrong on taking some sweet photos…am I right?! Check these two lovebirds out!

Gosh, I love, love. Like I said, I had no idea what I was doing. I was making some weird noises and just saying obnoxious things to make them laugh. To the point, if someone were to walk by and see this taking place they would think there was something severely wrong with me. Sorry, Colleen and David…I’m probably the most embarrassing person in the world, but you guys looked amazing! It was worth it!

After we finished our photo session it was time to snuggle my babies and give them baths. Once they were in bed for the night, I edited a few photos and then Matthew and I watched the first episode of the newest season, New Girl! This is the only show that makes me laugh out loud…even if I am watching it by myself. Jess’s quirky humor has always kept me laughing! Oh, and don’t even get me started on Schmidt– what a riot! Lately, I am very into light funny shows and movies. I refuse to watch scary movies, sorry Matthew!

Sunday:

I did a long swim today and it felt downright amazing. A mile in on my swim and I was done. Afterward, I made my way to the steam room and did my postpartum ab routine in there. I headed home and hung out with my little family until it was time for mass! All I can say is thank the lord for cry rooms because we had one fussy baby (yes just one was fussy…the other was chill as a cucumber). Yes, I am purposely not telling you which babe was fussy because I don’t want to call her out! Oops- Just did! hehe but in all seriousness when I get asked how to handle a fussy baby in public all I can say is, keep your humor. Sometimes, there is nothing you can do but love, hold, and make them feel safe. For a soon-to-be twin momma reading this, just be glad if one baby is fussy versus both your babes! Always know it could be harder and reminder yourself of that in sticky situations.

After mass, we headed home to get the babies ready for bed. Something I have briefly talked about on here is how important it is to pencil in time to just relax and hang out with your significant other, no matter how messy your house is or how many things you want to get done. It’s important to every once in awhile, let it go! Let your house be a mess (just for a little while), clear your mind of everything you have to do and relax. We watched the movie, The Greatest Show, and enjoyed just doing nothing. Once the movie was over I jumped up and started cleaning…but I did wait until the movie was over- progress!

I hope everyone else had a fun-filled, relaxing weekend. The only thing that could have made it better would be warmer weather, fingers crossed that happens next weekend!

A goal for this week:

Something I’ve been wanting to incorporate more into my life is yoga. My body is super tense and tight from picking up and carrying babies all day. I typically blog & clean during their first nap so for their second I want to make a 30-minute yoga routine a priority. I was all ready to purchase a program but then it hit me there are a ton of free yoga workouts on YouTube!

Click here for the yoga routine I will be doing today!

I’m really excited because I found this 30-day yoga challenge (yoga with Adrienne)! My goal is to make yoga a bigger priority and see if it helps with some major body tension going on. If anyone else wants to join me, please comment below so I have someone to chat with about how inflexible I am! Have a great week my favorite internet friends, stay lively!
